No time for fitness...

I ran into a friend the other day, and as we were catching up on kids, work and other areas of life, my latest fitness program came up (usually does) and she quickly stated, ” Its easy to be super fit when you can spend all day working out.  I work for a living and just don’t have that kind of time.”  Wow...Made me wonder if others imagine me spending my entire day working out, resting, working out again and again... only fitting in a bit of business and such here and there … NOT!
Like everyone I know, my days are SO full. I have many irons in the fire that require all my waking hours. Sometimes I have latitude in my scheduling... sometimes I don't.   Im up with the sun (long before in the winter) 6 days/week, have several conference calls and webinars, my workout and the morning dog-walking, breakfast followed by light house-cleaning and onto Skype for 6 hours of intensely focused work by 8:30am.  In the winter, it’s even more intense as our work involves being on our feet and in the cold all day, so a morning workout is a warm-up and fitness maintenance, grab a quick smoothie (thank GOD for Shakeology)... and out the door!
Thankfully, Im a morning person, meaning I really love the quiet, early morning hours to study, contemplate/meditate and plan my day.  I’m also super fortunate that I’ve discovered how to squeeze in my workouts in the mornings – and if it were not for the extremely efficient and effective workouts I've come to love from Beachbody, there’s NO way I would be able to stay on top of my fitness!
Long ago, I decided that fitness was going to have to be a priority in my life.  I schedule        my day around my workout, and it’s non-negotiable!  I get my workout in not matter   what!  I take my workouts with me when I travel for business, on vacation and as we move from winter location to location.   Recently we had some family visit from Texas. They got to choose to either watch us workout (or sleep in), or workout with us.  Fortunately for us – they’re a game bunch and jumped right in.
It’s the small, daily changes in behavior we make over time that makes the biggest differences in our longterm health. These daily choices need to be easy to do if we’re going to be consistent.  The challenge being, they're just as easy NOT to do.   Wellness, health, weight -loss are the result of the choices we make based on the priorities in our lives.  We CHOOSE to fit in a workout, eat well, getting enough sleep and water… or we CHOOSE to not have time to workout, not plan ahead to eat well, not honor our need for rest and drink everything else but water.
Long ago I chose wellness.
I don’t ‘have’ the time to workout… I MAKE the time.
